Creating and Reasoning About Complex Clinical Trial Tables With rtables

Gabe and Adrian will walk participants through the process of creating submission ready tables using the rtables framework. Specific topics will include both reasoning about and declaring table structure, and defining complex cell-value derivation instructions. Participants will get practice combining these topics to go from a LOPO style table and dataset specification to a publication ready table. Participants will learn how complex table structures map to analogous concepts they are likely already familiar with in data visualization via ggplot2: facets and geoms/stats. Using this as a foundation, Gabe and Adrian will show that the complex task of creating publication ready, structured tables collapses to things the participants are already comfortable with. Finally, Gabe and Adrian will showcase going beyond pre-specified LOPO-style submission tables into the realm of exploratory summarization of clinical data and how rtables can be used in that context.
