DATA COMMUNICATION AND NETWORKING LECTURES (ACCESS CONTROL LISTS)
In this video, I will discuss ACL or Access Control List used in networking (and data communication security and control).
Networking ACLs filter the network’s entry. ACLs for networking tell routers and switches which type of traffic the network can access, and which operation is permitted.
Rationales for using an ACL:
#1. Regulation of traffic flows
#2. For better network efficiency, restricted network traffic
#3. A level of network access protection that determines which server/network/service areas can be accessed by a user and which cannot be accessed by the user.
#4. Granular surveillance of the traffic leaving and entering the device
