Microsoft Windows is user friendly, popular and most used Operating System. First version of Windows, Microsoft Windows 1.0 was released on November 20, 1985.
Linux is an Operating system just like windows, Mac, UNIX, IOS & Android. LINUX was initially released by Linus Torvalds on September 17, 1991. The developers of the Free Open Source Foundation also helped Linus Torvalds in making of Linux.
Differences between Linux and Windows Operating System:-
1. Linux is a open source operating system while Windows is not open source operating
system.
2. Linux Operating System is free of cost While Windows Operating System is costly.
3. Linux provides more security than windows, While windows provides less security than Linux.
4. Linux runs faster than windows along with a modern desktop environment, While Windows is known slow and slow over time.
5. Linux file system is case sensitive, while Windows file system is case insensitive.
6. In Linux, monolithic kernel is used. While in Windows,micro kernel is used.
7. Linux is more efficient in comparison of windows, While windows are less efficient.
8. In Linux forward slash is used for Separating the directories, While in Windows back slash is used for Separating the directories.
9. Linux is often considered complicated because of its Command Line Interface. Linux OS is for the technical user because you must have some exposure to various Linux commands. While Windows comes with simple and rich GUI options, so it is user friendly and easy to use.
