• When I see the dreaded pop up I simply uninstall Discord and reinstall it. Takes about four minutes. No big deal.

• There already was Discord I guess unofficially as a flatpak and it's what I've been using. Only complaint is that sound while video streaming still no longer outputs even though it did at one time. It's been years!! It's so bad there is another app literally named 'Discord-screenaudio' made just to get around this one problem.
  If they want to show support then they need to laser focus on fixing this bug!!

• Now we pay that they actually maintain it lol.

• Currently running the pkg from Arch, and also the audio-streaming version from AUR so I can watch things with my SO sometimes. Personally, I'm more concerned about privacy TOS in Discord than its build compatibility, but I love seeing official support for any linux distribution effort!

• The thing I'm curious about, is it still an Electron app. Because if it's still just an Electron app but triple packaged as a FlatPak, then it's actually a negative thing. If they've really genuinely built it properly as a package, then great, maybe I'll start using Discord, since now I can finally use FlatPaks. Yeah, I know, this is why I should update more often, but as it turns out I was literally one dependency away from getting it to work myself.

• I'm a linux noob and am now trying out my second distro which is fedora and recently an update popped up and it was discord. I noticed that it said 'flatpak' and I installed it so I guess I do use it now.

• I mostly stick to the webclient on firefox, just use the client for when I am entering a voice call. But when I do use the client it can be rather annoying to see the completely it's your lucky day screen, just because I have not bothered to `pacman -Syu` in time.

• the executable stopped working on my Arch so I just stick to the website as I don't like the flatpak version
  still works on Ubuntu though

• now we have to pray that they'll fix the dumb thing where you can't screenshare your whole screen

• as for me, I made a script that pulls the latest tar.gz file and installs it or updates the current one, simple enough for me

• I would be so happy if Discord on linux actually started catching up on feature parity
  Also, it'd be great if they could work on more customization options because linux users generally love that.

• I am still a noobie when it comes to package formats and package managers on Linux after all these years on Linux: is Flatpak a convenient format for containerizing or controlling packages and its applications so they do not gather more data than they should? I have been itching to install Discord on my new PC, and at some point with Snap, but I am still unsure whether it is a good move for a proper containerization approach before VMs…

• 🤔 Now we just need them to actually consider Linux worth development time over the flashy nonsense they've been adding to Nitro instead of fixing long standing issues. Like adding sound capture support to the desktop sharing for example which has been broken for years and is the top rated request in their own feature request forum.
