  • I dont usually comment on your videos but as a fellow healthcare provider, I want to thank Dr. Shah for speaking about the broken health insurance system. Chef's kiss to you, doc!

  • I’ve been very ill with multiple serious/rare chronic health conditions for over a decade. I am 26 years old.
The amount of providers covered under my insurance has dwindled to slim to none, and I can’t afford to pay for specialists out of pocket- or a different insurance…. And the doctors that are covered under my plan have either :
    A. Turned me away completely because my case is too “complicated” and providers don’t want to take the time.

    B. Is part of a hospital system, and I don’t get the time I need with my doctors because they have so many patients, and I’m never able to get in for appointments or even get follow-ups via health messaging.

    C. The doctors just don’t care anymore and shrug because they are so burnt out.

It’s impossible to get the consistent care I need, and it’s only getting worse.

  • Off topic going to Europe what is the la roche posay sunscreen you love that we can’t buy here? Thanks

  • My doctor, since 1988, spends 30 to 45 minutes with me, I have his cell phone number, etc. Unfortunately he is going to retire in a few years, but his son is in residency now & will be taking over. We shall see! He doesn't accept my insurance but I don't care. I pay cash for him.

  • Such a great podcast!! So informative. Really appreciate you both. ❤

  • So agree on healthcare side!
Got a doct referral for an ultrasound, they were supposed to call. Waited for 1.5 month. Tried reaching out myself today. Realized that I am not as sick as I initially thought.

  • I don’t like sharing a toothbrush with my husband but he has used mine when he has forgotten his on vacation multiple times 🤦🏻‍♀️🥴😅

  • I never share my toothbrush or razors with anyone. This is what I tell my kids, too.

  • One area that you did not cover is the fact that private equity funds are buying them and their model is to fund with debt that has to be serviced. They are squeezing more profits out and forcing cost reductions at the expense of medical care to fund the profit and the enormous debt.
Another area to discuss is the fees for the uninsured are so outrageous that they have to pay out of pocket and they have no Medicare/insurance reduced pricing

  • I just finished watching this show. I have followed you for quite a while. I have SO MUCH respect and honor for the two of you after this show. Seriously…thank you for doing this show. So informative and I see your heart in this one so much. Thank you.

  • In October of 2020 i was twenty-six and diagnosed with a placental site trophoblastic tumor. This was peak lockdown and I was in with a Gyno oncologist within five days, surgery scheduled for the 12th.
The billing department would NOT do my pre-op call/labs/nose swab until i paid UPFRONT for my hysterectomy.
We had health insurance, good health insurance, but they would not budge.
I was 26, weaning my sixteen month old from nursing, grieving the loss of my fertility(the tumor marker is HCG so we initially thought we were pregnant and then miscarried, then two rounds of the abortion pill lots of arguing for a D&C)… hardest time of our lives honestly.
The healthcare system is so broken.
In 2020 it broke me for awhile.

  • Thank you for explaining how the healthcare system is broken. It was very informative and understandable. Next up how broken the education system. Parallel systems and I agree with Dr Shah: teachers want to teach and serve students. As a SpEd teacher all the administrators care about is the paperwork. So frustrating.

  • I am a Medical Billing Specialist and am constantly fighting claims denials from insurance companies , i see the constant drop in reimbursements and pretty much all the insurance companies follow Medicare fee schedule/ Medicare guidelines not to mention the cyber attack creating havoc.

  • Bravo for the broken healthcare talk. Another factor is the large insurance monopolies that buy all the parts of healthcare- pharmacies, middlemen, medical practices, and hospitals. They set up extra fees that everyone outside of themselves have to pay.

  • This was the absolute best description of our current healthcare issues I’ve heard!

  • Thanks for the insights on vampire facials AND America's broken healthcare. Truly we are in trouble! Looking forward to hearing more.

  • the entire portion about the healthcare system needs to:
    – be clipped out
    – have bits in shorts

  • I love the wide ranging nature of this podcast! Okay, I admit I skipped the microneedling bit because I’m a big needle phobe. I am not a city person so whenever I travel to other countries I try to stick to small towns and rural areas and eat where the locals eat rather than touristy places. And I so agree about our broken healthcare system, in my career I was passionate about providing care to an undeserved population but after 30 years, the system just wore me down. Dealing with insurance companies and their managed care, audits, increasingly oppressive regulations, and decreasing reimbursement rates lead me to close my practice sooner than I’d originally intended. I worry about my son and daughter-in-law who are just starting out in health care. And I worry about all of us as patients.

  • That’s my favorite sunscreen I get it shipped from the EU to Texas lol

  • One of the strongest, most cogent and convincing explanations of why our healthcare system is unworkable–and from a skincare pod, no less. Doctors, please continue this discussion! People outside healthcare need to hear and understand this if we're ever to hope of righting the ship. Your podcast is a valuable–and versatile–resource!

  • The amount of medical debt I have as a cancer patient just adds more stress to everything going on

  • How timely! I just got the first of three microneedling sessions but I always only use own body’s PRP. Day 2-4 I use snail mucin and Redlight therapy for quicker healing. Been doing this for yrs.

Edit: Been going to the same MD run MedSpa for over 3yrs.

  • Great discussion and informative healthcare update-thank you for providing the current reality from all sides. Healthcare was about patient care and now it’s mostly a business-sad!

  • Would never share a toothbrush or drinking container! Enjoyed this video very much!🥰

  • What is your take on exosomes delivery thru derma rollers? Plated has hair and facial products. These products are Human platelet derived exosomes. What are the risk of transmission for HIV or Hepatitis C with these products?

  • Some doctors might know nothing about insurance (not great for patients for sure) but so many docs have been at the epicenter of scandals in the past decade, where they get insanely bloated salaries from the hospital because they aggressively push extra labs and diagnostic services from other departments of said hospitals. Happened to a crooked obgyn at a local WV hospital, where so many people are already struggling with access/cost of healthcare

  • Totally agree. Can’t wait for the new product. I’m loving remedy products. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

  • Came for the vamp facial info stayed for the broken healthcare presidential campaign speech!!

  • I am part of a DPC and get to spend upwards of 30+ minutes with my doctor every visit. Insurance isn't involved and I have an amazing relationship with her. We should all look at Direct Primary Care going forward.
