Thanks
How do you do the ends? When the room is too big for one sheet wide?
Thoughts on Tape Buddy?
Please also show how to repair tape that is coming loose from drywall. Is there an easy way to repair it and blend it end without having to have the entire wall re-textured?
Jeff is the Bob Ross of sheet rocking.
Wait, if you do horizontal, you don’t fill in the tapered edge near the ceiling with mud? What???
Thanks for this video. I can’t tell how pissed I am at myself for not even thinking about Tape when repairing a big hole using those 2×2 drywall sheets from Home Depot. Watching this made me say Oh F… that makes perfect sense.
By the way, my old house was drywall with holes cut then a thick plaster layer. So those sheets had a massive gap. Be prepared if initial drywall is not 1/2 inch with those 2×2 repair pieces being 1/2 inch.
😮. always learning.
Drywall is so easy when the stud is level and not warped 🤣🤣
Oh.. plus using 'shimms' to help with bringing NEW wall to EXSISTING one
Sorry… but need to do quick video.. about 'pros and cons' using the mesh repair… and using a 'hot patch'… just using the paper on the patch instead of using the paper tape… which I prefer on small 'fist holes'… done 1000's of them…
Could you do a video from paster to drywall?
Also when using a drywall knife, cut with the in push and not the out push. If you catch a wire in the wall you’ll be less likely to cut into it if the knife teeth don’t catch it..
Really enjoyed the video tonight, it answered several of my questions. I have a cathedral ceiling which has a crack running down the middle of it. It is 10 feet 5 inches from the floor to the center where the crack is. Would the paper tape and slow mudding be the best to use or the tape with the holes and the quick 5 minute set. It's going to be a number of trips up and down the ladder no matter which one I do I know. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Im curious how much snow skiing you did in prep for this video
Amazing ! this vid came up right on time for me. I'm starting to finish the basement just now, mounted the drywall, filled the contractors large gaps. What I really needed it the mudding tips. Thank you! #1 teacher on yt for me hands down. Cheers
Have drywall with plaster on top. On cracks have repaired with latex primer, mud, tape and in a short while would crack again in same place. Then I was listening to you on another video and you mentioned if plaster use oil based primer. Wish I knew that before.
The work men that are doin my house need watch your vidoes. They’ve done a corner in a room of insulated drywall because they are brick house here in uk they had to put up metal beams to screw it to the space was 4 foot widex10high and 4.5 foot high x 10 it took them 7hrs. After watching all your videos I could of done it quicker thank god it’s not me paying them
Isn't just as much work lifting a sheet of drywall 4 feet off the ground?
I wish I had known about the adhesive and the paper corner bead when I did my basement. I did use the paper for the inside corners and it worked great. I had already installed the vinyl when I discovered the paper.
Great video guys! Jeff, green board is all ready up, can I thin set and tile on top or do I have to attach cement board on top of that then thin set and tile?
What’s wrong with Behr? I’ve used Marque for years without issue
59:57 nice production touch: "It's just drywall". 👍
Horizontal vs vertical? Why not start from the bottom?
Jeff this is just what I needed! I appreciate the two camera angles! I'm renovating my son's bathroom.
Love the rough handling of all the material, gives hope that you can f up real bad and still make it unnoticeable in the end 🤣
Important to note, do NOT use the normal mud (all purpose) with MESH tape. Mesh tape should only be used with the hot mud type (the type that is a powder you add water to). Note that he used the proper Easy Sand with the mesh tape here. I see people thinking mesh tape is better and they use it too often with normal drywall compound and it's a recipe for failure, not meant to be used together.
I see quite a few drywall screw pops after one year of a new construction. Is this because house was settling? I also see paint drips and sags after one year. Is this normal?
Walls are painted before tile guy ever sets foot on site. Don’t see how the wall wouldn’t be primed 🤔
Even on remodels the painter always comes before tile. 🤨
Anyway cheers 🎉
Just bought a big house that needs lots of interior work. You are a life saver, appreciate your sharing your knowledge!
😂😂😂kids when they're young and dumb are top heavy
In Arizona bullnose is common and commonly known as kerf jams. As to painting we had the same dilemma of changing one wall color and another color. Since the one wall did not end we ended up with the same color.
Can you tell us about the new cooling & heating system you mentioned on one of your shows I believe you said it was invented by a fellow from Montreal. ( Heat Pump Technology)
