  • This is not a place for anyone's complete working solution. In my case i still get Product activation failed after "slmgr -ato". This has nothing to do with Win 10 upgrading procedures by your own requests. This is just to validate/authenticate your WIN 7.
For that instruction on slmgr -rearm, take note that there is a limitation on number of times you can rearm your Win 7. Said to be only thrice. However, there is that way of breaking that limit via a mod in the registry (as also mentioned by a user comment below). STILL, that is just a mod to break the limit of times you can rearm. Sure, all it does is remove that annoying notification on your wallpaper that your windows isn't genuine. The fact that stays is that your Win isn't-yet-completely-validated.
Now on my case, Windows 7 actually does recognize the product key that is hidden registered in my system. It did show me the clue by the last digits that i had.
But get this, for me to get the actual product key registered in my system, i had to use a .vbs file to activate, check and show me the full product key. WHICH WAS NOT THE ONE PRINTED ON MY CPU COVER STICKER! It was totally different! I accepted it anyhow because it was a refurbished PC i had. I was glad anyhow why i used the vbs file to show me the actual product key i was registered with and acknowledged by the message prompt by the system thereafter. YET, YET!!! IT DID NOT RECOGNIZE MY PRODUCT CODE WHEN MADE TO AUTHENTICATE.
I had my refurbished system running for more than a year without this hassle. Question is, what the devil made a sudden change to my previous validation??
I don't have any security patches or updates made after since i can't even have the automatic update working for my Win 7 Pro installation. I checked by my system properties to see if any updates were installed when I did install by offline standalones because f*n' MS do not give further support for this OS anymore and thus had to rely on whichever website it was that produced the relevant info for those downloadable offline updates/security patches for Win 7. It didn't show anymore updates installed because i removed them all to reset what i do to have a win 7 SP1 installed instead. My issue is i simply wanted to upgrade to a 64-bit win 7 version. The hassle i had was to obtain the Win 7 sp1 version installed first to reenable the automatic updates.
For the love of god, I tried after but it kept giving me errors and errors and errors. It gave me a wonderful headache searching for solutions almost everywhere safe and relevant elsewhere for each error i received. Each error code gave me the info that i needed to find the solution by myself. Each 'solutions' gave me to no avail. MS was no help either of course.
SO, lastly, why should i trust MS further if they're pushing their users to keep using their newer products based on limited yrs of support they give instead of answering the question of their own product's integrity?
