Elephants Dream (Enhanced version)
Elephants Dream is the culmination of the Orange Open Movie Project, produced by the Blender Foundation and the Netherlands Media Art Institute. The project was conceived to help develop and establish the capabilities of the Blender 3D open source tool for the creation of cinema quality animation.
This movie is subtitled in more than 20 languages.
The film tells the story of Emo and Proog, two people with different visions of the surreal world in which they live. Viewers are taken on a journey through that world, full of strange mechanical birds, stunning technological vistas and machinery that seems to have a life of its own.
‘Elephants Dream’ features the voice talents of renowned Dutch movie actors Tygo Gernandt and Cas Jansen, as well as an original score by German composer Jan Morgenstern. The short brought together the talents of a team of artists from countries as diverse as Syria, Germany, Australia, Finland, and the Netherlands. In addition to the performances of the cast and creative efforts of the lead artists, Elephants Dream has had the assistance of hundreds of individuals across the world who contributed a variety of work such as programming additional functionality for Blender, creating textures used in some of the scenes, and providing international translations for the DVD release.

Как-то помню смотрел это фильм на касете давным давно, и недавно смотрел ролик где упомянули слонов и у меня флешбек из детства с этим фильмом возник, решил его найти и посмотреть, писал к слову слон очень много разных слов вроде (смерть, жизнь ,любовь и т.д.), но безуспешно и тогда написал в Ютюбе, поиграл с фильтрами и сразу нашёл.В детстве он меня пугал и я не понимал про что он и я решил его пересмотреть чтоб найти новые смыслы.

I remember spending a week trying to download this before was a thing youtube. Thought it was a more of a music video to the tune of O-zone Numa numa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPejYdBM11I wasn't until youtube I was able to watch it. Also, I can assure anyone reading this comment, if you havn't guessed it. This predates youtube and also most classic World of Warcrat PvP videos.

This short movie is literally a representation of not just Blender, but the creative world itself.
Proog is an elderly man and has likely spent his whole life within the great machine. To him, its his home. In his eyes, he can see the beauty and potential the machine realm has to offer, something his protege Emo isnt able to see. Emo doesnt understand the vastness and the complexity of the world he's presented with.
Emo isnt resistant to Proog because he doesnt like it. He is resistant because he doesnt understand it the same way Proog does. There are several scenes where this is true. Like where Proog shows Emo the living phone or when they ascend the elevator. In both these examples, Proog attempts to pass on his view of the world he's presented to his friend. But because of how they percieve the world in different ways (IE: Proog is running along the floating platforms while Emo is walking behind, or Emo is on the floor while Proog approachs him and helps him up).
It isnt just a literal depiction that they are both doing different things, its also a depiction that Proog and Emo are two different people with different views. And if thats not enough, consider that Proog is dressed up all fancy while Emo wears tattered clothing.

A word of advice for Ton Roosendaal…..The world knows that your created Blender. But story writing isn't your cup of tea. Leave it for someone else. Someone who knows how to write a simple and interesting story. My point is…"I don't get it".
