Fabric Performance Impact Notification with Redhat Enterprise Linux

With Fabric Performance Impact Notifications (FPIN), the Brocade SAN notifies the HBA/MPIO driver of link integrity issues in the SAN, so that the MPIO driver can take a corrective action, to avoid impact application performance.
The root cause of this issue is commonly referred to as having “sick but not dead links” in the SAN. A sick link exposes intermittent but reoccurring link integrity issues that are not detectable by the MPIO driver itself. As a result, the MPIO driver continuously has to balance traffic across both the healthy and “sick” links having drastic application performance impact.
With FPIN in Brocade SAN the link integrity issue is automatically detected, the MPIO driver is notified and automatically takes corrective action (without any user intervention) to avoid application performance impact.
FPIN integration is available from RHEL 8.3 EPEL with FOS9.0.x and Emulex HBAs.
