ubuntu
@Ryan I am very disappointed that your Red Hat hat is not a red hat, merely has a red hat printed on the hat. Do better, Red Hat!
I use both, as well as OpenSuse's Leap155 and Tumbleweed. I write some programs and I like to test them on the mentioned. FWIW, I prefer Fedora Rawhide (which will be Fedora 41). My second favourite is Tumbleweed. Ubuntu is "Let me do things so users can't leave!".
Fedora netinstall with the most minimal KDE Plasma 6 (not 5.27) option, and it is basically, for me, what I wanted out of Kubuntu 24.04. So, for this year, Fedora wins for me.
Even though I use NixOS on my main computer.
Been using Ubuntu for a while and I just installed the latest distro I must say it's a solid os
Don't go for Ubuntu 24.04. It's a buggy mess. Better wait for the point release.
Debian is immutable too.
Which CPU-GPU combination works best with Linux?
Speaking of SECURITY – will an anti-malware program like Kaspersky, work on Linux – or is there something similar available?
Is one of these distros my dad? 🥹
Dota>LoL
Linux>Windows and Macintosh
Thankfully, numbats are not extinct. They are classified as endangered though.
I had fedora 39 gnome on my laptop and loved it. So much that, when I bought my gamer desktop computer went on and installed fedora 40. Sadly no Nvidia drivers and I could not find a way to get it installed. Then I tried to install Ubuntu 24.04 and Voila, Newest Nvidia driver outofthebox. And it runs smooth as melted butter in popcorn.
I haven't used Ubuntu in years but 1 thing that EVERY distro needs to copy is the "minimal Install" option.
Wendy rocks, that was too funny, especially the overlay on Ryan's face 😀
Immutable generally means that the system is unchanging. Atomic, especially atomic changes (from databases) means that a change cannot partially fail. It must fully succeed or fully fail but not be partial. It makes far more sense to use atomic versus immutable since the system can be changed and isn't static. Updates are a perfect example.
I don't understand this hate towards snaps. Yes it has some issues in the past such as slow firefox initial start but now that problem is gone. And also everyone is talking like fedora has absolutely great but i am using fedora and it has full of creepy bugs at least on my system. 5 out of 10 times fedora freezes on shutdown or reboot
Fedora is prime conditioned Sugar Ray Leonard. Lightning fast. Ubuntu…. like Ali at his most bloated out of shape…Really slow. 😝 but Ubuntu with snaps deleted – Ali at his prime.
