  • Ubuntu should instead ship an immutable snappy distro, call it something like Ubuntu Snap and market that as the flagship distro instead

  • It never stopped being able to install debs with dpkg. It is only some of the GUI tools that went wonky.. Those of us that are comfortable on the command line likely didn't even notice.

  • Ubuntu always did install debs.
    I never had a problem because I never use the application store anyway

  • If you want debian apps, run debian
    oops you run that other one for the gui

  • For $500, I'd give that laptop a chance. I'd have to find another OS though. I still don't get the eMMC drive. Just use a smaller sata M.2.

  • End of life in a month?!? What were they smoking?
