FIX!!! CANNOT OPEN PDF FILES IN WINDOWS 7, 8 1, 10
Right-click the PDF, choose Open With — Choose default program (or Choose another app in Windows 10).
Choose Adobe Acrobat Reader DC or Adobe Acrobat DC in the list of programs, and then do one of the following:
(Windows 7 and earlier) Select Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.
(Windows 8) Select Use this app for all .pdf files.
(Windows 10) Select Always use this app to open .pdf files.
Click the Search icon.
Type “Reader” (no quotes), then hit Enter.
Go to the top menu and click Edit.
Once you’re inside the Edit menu, look for Preferences and click it.
A new window will show up. Click Security (enhanced).
Under the Sandbox Protection options, uncheck the box beside “Enable Protected Mode at startup”.
You will be asked if you want to continue with the changes. Click Yes.
