Computer Errors:
– User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded
•Happens on Log on screen
•Common in Windows 7 and maybe in Vista
Steps to fix:
1. Boot into Safe Mode Do this by hiting F8 ounce or repeatedly tapping the
F8 key as the computer is starting up
2. Click start and search regedit (double click it)
3. Find the following folder:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionProfileList
There is one line for each profile. If a profile is bad, check:
a) That the key name doesn’t end in “.bak” (remove .bak if there)
b) That the RefCount value is 0 (change it if different)
c) That the State value is 0 (change if different)
If there is two that have the same file name and one says .bak at the end
delete the other and rename that with out the .bak or delete the one
that says temp in it. FOLLOW video well!!!
Follow up Tips: If you delete the wrong folder, you will destroy your profile and
lose everything. This will force you to do a system restore or go to a computer
repair shop. Make sure you delete the folder with out the .bak and follow the instructions
carefully. All in all…you are suppose to delete the folder without the .bak then after that
is done, you should have one folder left with a .bak. So with this folder; rename it by removing
the .bak, then you are good to get back in to your regular profile.
Make sure that Refcount and state say 0 not some out of the ball park
nummber like 670 or 1 ect…!
4. Make any necessary changes, close Regedit
5. Try to log in as that user that dosn’t work. Do so by restarting!
