Forgotten Computers: Daily-Driving an IBM Mainframe! (on an OS/2 Warp 3 PC)
Ringing in the new year with the latest and greatest in computing technology… in 1988! In this video, I demonstrate (and argue that you can) one of several computing workflows I daily-drive: an IBM VM/CMS mainframe. I demonstrated how you type up documents, proofread and spellcheck them, how you send and receive emails, how you schedule and manage appointments, how you write programs, networking with other systems of the same and different species, and a few pitfalls along the way (I did eventually fix DW/370, I promise!). I’ll even browse the world wide web and (briefly) run an IRC client. SSL/TLS? You bet!
I’m sure at least one person saw the card at the end!
I’m sorry about the super noisy chroma in the video 🙁 this camera is old and awful. The music used is from XTD, in no particular order. Look up these names on the module FTP server of your choice: crimple, dead brain, discovery, scream from space, rebirth, machinery, after dream, stink bomb, stupefacient, extrication, visionary, starlight, relish, wavering, amusement. These are some weird song names, but XTD is great.

There is a feature xedit has I haven't found in other editors is the 'all' command. It shows only lines containing string. I've also have not been able to find a scripting language as powerful as rexx.
There used to be a "Rainbow Falls" water park in my town, they tore it down to build a car dealership parking lot. Promised a new one would replace it, then it ran out of money.
Another great video ! Must watch !
