From Old Jersey to New Jersey An Open Source Approach to Contact Tracing Apps

In this talk, Colm will talk about how the success of building Ireland’s contact tracing app led to NearForm building apps for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Gibraltar and Jersey alongside a corridor of inter-state operable apps from New York to Delaware.
Colm will discuss how NearForm, a software solutions company that specializes in globally accelerated solution and platform delivery for clients including Condé Nast, Ingka and EY, started working in partnership with public health authorities across Europe and the US to deliver contact tracing apps.
He will talk about how NearForm approached the development of the apps, the key challenges faced and how they overcame those, the importance of interoperability as world economies begin to reopen, and why the Irish Government, supported by NearForm, decided to open source the underlying code for other public health authorities to use.
