Anonymous FTP is a type of FTP server that allows users to access files and directories on the server without providing a password. This feature is commonly used for public file sharing, but can also be exploited by attackers who wish to compromise the server. Attackers can exploit Anonymous FTP by using tools to scan the server for vulnerable files and directories, and then using them to upload malicious files, such as malware, or to modify existing files. Additionally, because there is no authentication required, attackers can easily use Anonymous FTP to access sensitive data stored on the server. It is important to secure Anonymous FTP by implementing strong access controls and monitoring activity on the server.
