Windows Subsystem for Linux WSL:-
Description:-
Developers can access the power of both Windows and Linux at the same time on a Windows machine. The Windows Subsystem for Linux EX: WSL lets developers install a Linux distribution such as Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, Kali, Debian, Arch Linux, etc and use Linux applications, utilities, and Bash command-line tools directly on Windows, unmodified, without the overhead of a traditional virtual machine or dual boot setup.
Prerequisites:-
You must be running Windows 10 version 2004 and higher Build 19041 and higher or Windows 11 to use the commands below. If you are on earlier versions please see the
Commands:-
1. Check Status
wsl –status
2. Install WSL
wsl –install
3. List installed Linux distributions
wsl –list
4. List available distro to download and install
wsl –list –online
5. To install additional Linux distributions after the initial install.
wsl –install -d **Distribution-Name**
6. Check Status of installed distributions
wsl –list –verbose
6. Change Default distro
wsl –set-default **Distribution-Name**
7. Run a specific Linux distribution from PowerShell or CMD
wsl –distribution **Distribution Name** –user **User-Name**
8. Update WSL
wsl –update
9. Check WSL version
wsl –version
10. Shutdown all running distribution
wsl –shutdown
11. Stop a specific running distribution
wsl –terminate -Distribution-Name-
12. Backup WSL
wsl –export **Distribution-Name** **backupfilename.tar**
13. Restore WSL
wsl –import-in-place **Distribution-Name** *FileName**
14. Uninstall a distribution
wsl –unregister **DistributionName**
