Headset Mic Quit Working After Windows 10 Update
So after a recent update to Windows 10 all of a sudden my headset microphone was no longer being recognized in the game I play or in Discord or other apps. I tried all the usual trouble shooting stuff and none of it was working. Thankfully Google is there and showed me the setting I hadn’t thought of checking. If you’re experiencing this same issue here’s what I learned so you can fix it in 1 minute and not feel like a dummy like me. 🙂
I must give credit where credit is due so thanks so much to Win10FAQ.com for helping me figure out what settings to change to get my mic working again. Here’s a link to their page and article that showed me what I was missing. https://win10faq.com/fix-microphone-settings/
If changing the Window Privacy setting didn’t solve your problem there are other settings in Windows that could also be the culprit. Check out this video where I walk you through what those settings are and how to change them. https://youtu.be/kGVTfBqOz6o
You sound/mic problem could be caused by hardware incompatibility. If you’re using a 3.5mm headset give this video a watch it may help you discover what the root cause of your audio/mic issue is and how to fix it. https://youtu.be/6vCu5NvmnNc
