Title: How Fidelity Investments Leverages Inner Source for Cloud Infrastructure Management
Abstract: Managing infrastructure across many cloud and SaaS providers can be challenging; so many enterprises turn to extendable open source IaC tools for help. But what happens when multiple teams within an enterprise each develop their own set of standards and practices in isolation as they adopt these tools? The result can be additional complexity from duplicate implementations or inconsistent adherence to security guardrails. To meet these challenges, Fidelity Investments relies on its inner source practice to identify and develop core and common IaC capabilities that can be leveraged across the firm. Fidelity will share key insights on the importance of building a strong inner source community. You will be introduced to steps you can take now to build your inner source practice such as assembling trusted maintainers for common plugins, establishing standards for maintainable modules and paving the path with core tooling to drive IaC tool adoption while allowing engineers to contribute back.
