i managed to run windows 7 on 96mb of ram in safe mode
Thats so weird, i once installed Windows Embedded Standard 7 (its pratically Windows 7) on a 872 mhz overclocked Pentium III 800EB and it worked
the video is ironically 7 minutes long.
My idle memory usage on windows 7 is around 500mb of 4gb , you can run windows 7 on 256mb ram but your cpu is powerful so it requires more ram try it on a actual pc next time…

I think you would have been able to boot with even less RAM if you disabled Aero, maybe the system was trying to load Aero effects on startup, it didn't have enough memory to do that, and then it BSOD'd?
