How to change Language on Lock screen in Windows 11/10

Has the Windows Lock Screen Language changed automatically? Or did you change the display language, but the lock screen still shows the original language? In this post, we will show you multiple ways to change the language on the Windows lock screen to the one set as the display language.

This situation usually occurs when you install the Windows version in English and then change the display language to another language, for example, French, Spanish, Arabic, etc. But as you boot your device and are about to sign, you realize the lock screen still shows the original English language.

How to change Language on the Lock screen in Windows 11/10

Windows lock screen is the first thing you see when you boot your system and you proceed to sign in. It usually shows a picture, date, time, battery status, WiFi, and more. But even after you have changed the display language to, for example, Spanish, French, or Arabic, the lock screen language remains the original one, that is English. So, here’s how to change the language on Windows’ lock screen.

Before you can change the default language on the Windows lock screen, here’s how to open the Region Administrative settings.

In this case, open the Windows Settings app (Win + I) > Time & language > Language & region.

Now, navigate to Related settings on the have disabled the Administrative tab on the right and click on Administrative language settings to open the Region dialogue. Here, you can access the Administrative settings.

*Note – If you have disabled the Administrative tab in the regional and language settings in Windows, you can follow the steps in this post to enable it.

Now that you have access to the Region window, select the Administrative tab. Here, click on the Copy settings button.

You will now see a new window named, Welcome screen and new user account settings.

Here, go to the Copy your current settings to section at the bottom and check the box next to the Welcome screen and system accounts.

This will copy your global settings to the welcome screen and change the lock screen language to the same as set for the display.

Once you press OK, you will receive a Change Display Language prompt. Press the Restart now button to reboot your PC and the changes to be applied.

How do I change the language on my boot screen?

To change the language on your boot screen in Windows, first access the Settings by pressing the Win+I shortcut key. Navigate to Time & language, select Language from the sidebar, and set your desired language as the default. This will update your boot screen language upon the next restart.

How do I change the Windows display language?

Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language to change the Windows display language. Next, click on Add a language,  select your desired language, and set it as default. Once added, select Options to download the necessary language packs. After installation, select the new language and click Set as default to apply changes. Restart your PC to see the updated language settings.
