How to Create a Minecraft LAN Server to play online with Friends (EASY) – 1.16.4
Minecraft LAN Server is a easy way to create your world on Minecraft and allow your friends to play in your world accessible over the internet. In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to make your world accessible by your friends over the internet. This was done on minecraft update 1.16.4.
STEPS 1 TO 5 ARE DONE BY THE HOST
STEP 6 IS DONE BY PLAYERS JOINING THE WORLD
STEP 1
Using taskbar’s search bar, type command prompt and click it
Once opened, enter the following command ipconfig
Take note of your IPv4 Address and Default Gateway
STEP 2
Open your browser and enter your default gateway in the URL
Sign in using the credentials of your modem manufacturer
You can find them with a quick google search
e.g: username: admin password: admin
STEP 3
Set up port forwarding
The GUI may differ depending on the model of modem but the same information is inputted
For fields with the port option, use port 25565 which is the default minecraft port
For the destination IP address, use the IPv4 address
For protocol, you can choose either UDP or TCP or both
STEP 4
Open minecraft and create a new world with Allowed Cheat turned ON
We need the cheats to use the publish command to specify our desired port
Once the new world is created, type /publish 25565
STEP 5
Go to the browser and type What is my IP to obtain your public IP
Your friends will use this IP to connect to your game
Take note that the public IP changes daily
STEP 6
This step applies to the users joining the host’s game
Enter the public IP followed by the port number as server address
