How to download and install google chrome on ubuntu 22.04

In this video I will show you how to download and install google chrome on ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

Google Chrome is a cross-platform web browser developed by Google. It was first released in 2008 for Microsoft Windows. It was later ported to Linux, macOS, iOS, and Android, where it is the default browser.

If you want to install google chrome on ubuntu 22.04 you have two options. You can download the chrome package using the Linux terminal and install it from the command line or you can use a web browser and go to the google chrome website and download the google chrome package and install it.

Instructions for both install options are below.

Steps to install google chrome on ubuntu 22.04 :

Chrome web browser does not come with the default repositories of Ubuntu 22.04. So you will need to have wget installed.

Option 1
Installing google chrome on ubuntu 22.04 using the terminal.

Step 1
Open a terminal and run the following commands
sudo apt update
sudo apt install wget

Step 2
Now we need to download the google chrome web browser package using wget
wget https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

Run the following command to install google chrome on ubuntu 22.04
sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

Step 3
Now to run google chrome on your ubuntu 22.04 machine, run
google-chrome

Option 2
Installing google chrome using the GUI or a web browser.

Step 1
Go to https://www.google.com/chrome/
Click download Chrome
Select 64 bit .ded (For Debian/Ubuntu)
Click Accept and Install

Step 2
Once the google chrome package is downloaded, right click on the package and select Open with other application
Select Software Install, press select.
A new window will open. Press the install button and input your password.

That’s it. You should be good to go with google chrome on ubuntu 22.04.
