This tutorial is a step-by-step guide for beginners on how to create a bootable Linux Mint USB and to install Linux Mint on PC

So let’s get started !

The first thing you should do is go to the first link in the video’s description, this link will open the Linux Mint website, you can also type linuxmint.com on the search bar of your browser.

On the website, click the “Download” link to go to the Linux Mint download page, scroll down, and click on the link where it says “Cinnamon”, then choose the location of the server you want to download Linux Mint from, I will choose the first option.

Now the download of Linux Mint ISO will start.

While Linux Mint is downloading, go to the second link in the video’s description, or just type rufus.ie on the search bar of your browser.

Scroll down until you find the download section and click on the first link to download the latest version of Rufus

Now double-click on the Rufus application, Rufus will help us create a bootable Linux mint USB installation, insert your USB drive, for this tutorial, you will need a USB drive of at least 4 GB.

Select your USB drive in the list of devices, and then click on the “Select” button to select the Linux Mint image we just downloaded, click “Open”

Now click on “Start”, choose the option to “Write in ISO image mode” and click “OK”, click “Yes”, and click on “OK” to format your USB drive.

Don’t forget that all your data on your USB device will be erased, so copy the files on your USB drive to another device if you want to keep them.

Now the installation is “Ready”, just click on “Close” and remove your USB Drive from your computer.

Now we have a bootable Linux Mint USB that we will use to install Linux Mint on our PC.

On your computer or laptop, press the power button, and click many times on the key that opens the boot menu, in my case it’s the F9 key on HP, just google your laptop brand name and add boot menu key to search for the key that opens the boot menu.

Choose your USB drive on the boot menu, and then choose to “Start Linux Mint”

You can try using Linux Mint, or you can install Linux Mint on your PC by double-clicking in the CD icon.

Choose the language you want your computer to be, I will choose English, and then choose your Keyboard layout.

You can connect to your Wi-Fi. Click on “Continue”.

Click “Continue”, you can choose to install Linux Mint alongside Windows, or erase the disk completely to install Linux Mint, click “Continue”, choose your time zone, and then click “Continue”.

Now choose a name for your profile and computer, and type a password.

I will choose “Log in automatically” so that I don’t need to type my password each time I start my computer.

Click “Continue”

Now wait for the installation of Linux Mint on your PC to finish.

Once the installation is finished, click on “Restart Now”

Wait until Linux Mint ask you to remove your USB.

Remove your USB drive and click Enter.

Now wait for your computer to reboot.
