  • Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon on a Toughbook CF-C2. Followed your steps, thanks. Tip: After following all these steps, you have to shut it all the way down and then restart for it to work properly. Otherwise if you just restart from the last step, it will go past the "Panasonic" boot-up screen, flash the LM logo, and then go black. At that point, you have to close the lid to put it to sleep and then reopen it for the password screen to appear, it will finish with the screen on full bright, and when you try to turn it down it will go all black again and you have to turn it back up. Minor quirk that might throw other newbies (like me), but the full power-down cured it. Again, thanks for the fix!

  • I have installed Ubuntu 23.10 on my all-in-one PC my problem is I can't adjust the bright light before I use this version I used Ubuntu 20 I control it with a brightness controller but on version 23.10 the application doesn't work. I followed your tutorial but it did not work for me.

  • In linux22. 4 after pasting script there is terminal comes on screen

  • How can i decrease?? By which key?? I have done all process..

  • in Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14IIL05 error exec script line Watch directory: '/sys/class/backlight/panasonic', how i want to fix?

  • Will this work too on Lenovo Ideapad 3 running PopOs 22.04??

  • I just bought HP laptop 4 days ago !!

And I lost backlights & brightness in ubuntu

  • This is brilliant. I've been using a CF-SZ6 for years (since 2017), and the brightness controls have always been non-functional apart from a few seconds during boot, before the UI comes up. The machine does show those two drivers under /sys, though, and your script wakes them up. Yay! I'm seeing some occasional flicker in brightness, but that can probably be controlled by toggling the watch script on and off. Great stuff, and thank you.

  • Hello, how can I do so that the screen does not lower the brightness when I unplug it from the current?

P.S. I already looked at the power part and the option is not there, I have ubuntu 22.04 LTS

  • Also works for CF-53 MK4?

  • Thanks for the new tweaks. The brightness slider on my LENOVO IDEAPAD z570 works now able to adjust brightness. Just copy pasting your script didn't work I had to change the Watch Driver and Patch Driver to my vendor provided backlight drivers acpi_video0 and intel_backlight.
