  • … and then if you first drive broken, boot OS will fail

  • Thank you, really good stoff, down to earth explanation…. as a help video should be. Good Job!!

  • Thanks for this!!!! El mejor video explicando como hacer un RAID1 en este nuevo sistema. Yo lo hice en UEFI pero me resulto muy util tu tutorial

  • Thank you very much! You would think that the server installer makes it easier to set up a RAID 🙂

  • Somehow swap partition was skipped in the example?

  • Thank you! I was trying to install mint, pop os, elementary, nothing worked. and ubuntu server is the ONLY ONE which works on raid!!!

  • There was a problem writing disks to me and the instalation failed.
I used a gparted live to clean the disks and it worked.

  • On 10 years old Gigabyte main board I was forced to use LVM mirrors instead of Linux SW RAID1. Ubuntu Server 18.04 installer was unusable because of some weird scrolling issues so I installed Desktop 18.04 LTS. Going to see what will happen with 22.04 LTS.

  • Unfortunately the latest server installer now won't RAID discs if there isn't a separate drive to hold /boot

  • The best video I´ve seen on how to create a mirror, I wonder why this can´t be done with the UI installer, I tested this in virtualbox and it worked great but on real hardware it didn´t work, I guess that the problem is because both SSDs are different models, exactly same size and brand but one is a SATA SSD and the other one is an M.2:… Do you know anything on this limitation?

  • Does still worth to use Raid 1? some tech says that using ZFS file system for the OS will make Raid 1 obsolete. Thanks for the video!

  • Hi, i replaced the drive and it still shows "Clean, Degraded" also under details it shows Removed. Can you please guide me on this

  • Thanks for this. Was planning on using hardware RAID 1 on the motherboard but after messing with it for a long time discovered not only is the driver for AMD RAID on Ubuntu hard to find but it also doesn't support NVME drives on X570. Someone told me to use software RAID 1 you need 4 drives but you proved that to not be the case.

  • Thanks. Is there any additional setup one needs to do (perhaps in grub or is fstab) to ensure that both drives are bootable independently ? I found that I can boot from one but not from the other, even though both were selected as boot devices as per your guide.

  • Danke Bruder, hat einfach funktioniert. Ich küss dein Auge

  • Can you make a video of doing raid 0?? I keep running into issues with the installation.

  • Thank you! I was looking everywhere for that option to mark a disk as a boot disk.

  • having issues where after installation setup exactly like yours but on boot im getting something along disk not found.. any idea?
