How To Install Ubuntu for Tablets on the Nexus 7 | Pocketnow

Canonical released a developer preview of Ubuntu for Tablets and Ubuntu for Phones yesterday, and they also provided some fairly straightforward instructions for how to get the new OS on various Nexus devices. Unfortunately, unless you already have access to Ubuntu, Canonical’s instructions don’t help all that much. Taylor shows how you can install Ubuntu for Tablets on your Nexus 7 using TWRP.

  • Is it possible to get this on the Tab 2 GT P3113 using the Blackhawk Next Kernel?

  • this only for the Nexus or can i do this to my Kindle Fire (first gen)

  • Well You speak so fast! And my native language is Spanish so I had no chance with this video! Thanks any way.

  • That looks quite impressive.
Will this be available with a screen magnification? i need such software due to my visual impairment. Hopefully developers can hack the ipad2 so far that we can actually flash ubuntu on it…honestly, we already have a bootrom exploit, shouldnt be that far off :p

  • That was fricking Chinese to me, I didn't understand one sentence even though I speak English. =D

  • your voice hurts my ears. almost like an android robot himself. no intonation whatsoever.

  • faster then shit..only those who already know how will understand.

  • I tried it for 10 minutes. Returned back with "this is an alpha. Empty, nothingness, not useful at all." Restoring back to my stock android….

  • Funny how you made a 3 minute video of the process whn in reality it took me 2 hours (I had to install drivers, find the invisible TWRP recovery folder and all that jazz… 😀

  • You explained this to fast I got my dick stuck in the toaster

  • Technically, it's "uu-boon-too", but I simply pronounce it differently, just how people pronounce Nokia or Huawei differently. The world keeps spinning. – TM

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAA I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR LIKE A MONTH!!! *MWAH*MWAH*MWAH* CANONICAL!!! downloading it right now!

  • People seem to think new is better… I don't personally. Android has been in Beta for quite some time. "Yes I said Beta" I supported Android until I realized they didn't support me, I.e. Leaving 6mo old devices without updates., just to make us buy the next so called new thing. Apple Has shown me that they will at least update the device. Even if people think it's "boring" it's a update 🙂

  • I have to admit I think the abuntu os looks very average, think I will stick with jellybean especially as its what my device was built to run.

  • I'm not trying to be a jerk… But would would people want to do this? I personally love the Android OS… This seems kind of stupid…

  • thanks…but yes…way too fast :

  • @shabby khurana I don't think I'd say that. To be honest, this is a lot easier than rooting and flashing in the early days of Android. Which is when I got into modding. I have no training whatsoever, only what I've learned through Google search, and I got by.

  • Absolutely worthless video… Too fast…. Lame….

  • This will only help people who flash roms regularly.. For normal people i think it was too fast

  • Hey buddy, take a breather. You're like a nervous student who blows through their presentation too quickly.

  • Im stupid i know but what is ubuntu is it still android?

  • No, I don't think so, plus it doesn't show everything about you, it just shows all of the things which were shown in CES, like contacts, conversations and apps, they will all have a specific image, to show the possibilities Ubuntu Touch will have at launch.

  • Good video, but the tutorial was to fast.
