  • Some may have a problem with this method. It relies on Wine (which is a windows application emulator/launcher) Files you download via the Torrent app will get saved in a hidden .wine folder by default. The application is smart enough to save files outside of .wine directory, but you may want to save your downloads to an alternate hard drive. The Utorrent application running through wine is only able to see wine's own virtual drives. It cannot see native alternate hard drives mounted on Linux.

If you are saving your downloads and you have enough space this is fine. However, they are others who have limited space and rather save large files onto large hard drives that are mounted by Linux

The second problem I have with this is the version of Utorrent that is available. 2.2.1 is a very old version from like 10 years ago. The older versions are unable to use some newer magnet links for downloading torrents directly

  • so it is basically using windows version and then running it using
    wine.

  • my machine is stuck in a loop and displays :

error: cannot perform the following tasks:
    – Download snap "wine-platform-6-stable" (19) from channel "stable" (the download has been cancelled: context canceled)

    must be just me
