How to install Vanilla Gnome Session on Ubuntu 18.04 (Re-uploaded)
(A quick note, this is a re-upload of a previous video. The audio quality of the original was somehow garbled in the original upload.)
In this video, I demonstrate how to add a vanilla Gnome session to Ubuntu 18.04. To view the full writeup, visit https://ajreissig.com/?p=116487&preview=true
To get that vanilla gnome experience, open a terminal and enter the following line:
sudo snap remove gnome-3-26-1604 gnome-calculator gnome-characters gnome-logs gnome-system-monitor
Enter your password after the prompt, then after those snap packages are removed, enter the following line:
sudo apt install gnome-session
After Gnome session has installed, reboot your system. At the login screen, click the gear icon and select “Gnome on Xorg” to get the vanilla Gnome session. Enter your password as nomal. After login, open a terminal and the following:
sudo apt install vanilla-gnome-desktop vanilla-gnome-default-settings
After these packages have installed, reboot your system once again.
