FTP or File Transfer Protocol is a commonly used protocol for transferring files between computers, one act as a client, the other act as a server. In this post, we will talk about the FTP server in Linux systems, specifically Very Secure FTP Daemon (vsftpd).

The vsftpd program is a very popular FTP server that is used by many servers today.
Kali linux:
apt-get install vsftpd
service vsftpd start
If you want to allow local users to log in and to allow ftp uploads you have to edit file /etc/vsftpd.conf uncommenting the following:
local_enable=yes
write_enable=yes
To secure your server, disable anonymous access if not required:
anonymous_enable=NO
ftp 127.0.0.1
check if connected or not.

Linux:
yum install vsftpd
vi /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf
