A Bare Metal Recovery tool allows you to completely factory reset your Surface device to its original state when it first came out of the box and is a great tool for troubleshooting any issues your having with your device as it allows you to bypass Windows and reinstall the OS from scratch.

  • really nice, what about ARM devices? I don't have another one and when I create the recovery drive and I launch and copy the image over the USB. Inserting the USB it's telling me that my PC is not running a 64bit architecture so I am not able to proceed. MS doesn't seem to release ARM images for devices. I was able to download one from the Surface recovery website but still the recovery drive creating from a 64b won't work on ARM. Any idea would be really much appreciated

  • Mine failed, it keeps saying bitlocker. I tried the to reset the bitlocker per YT video and there is not bitlocker reset code.

  • Awesome video! However, my Surface 2 won't go into recovery mode. I've pressed vol down and power button multiple times. There is the surface logo (not the windows one) and then the screen turns black and never restarts. This is the last step for me but nothing seems to put my Surface 2 into recovery mode…

  • for some reason Mine does not boot into recovery mode when I hold "power and Vol down" buttons.
    it does boot into BIOS if I hold Power Vol up
