How to reset lost root password on Ubuntu

Boot into recovery mode from the Grub menu
1.After the boot, go to the option Drop to Root
Shell Prompt
2.Type mount -n -o remount, rw /
3.To reset Password, type passwd username
(your username)
4.Then type a new Password and exit from the
shell to the recovery menu
5.Select resume normal boot
6.Select Ok
7.Use your Ubuntu with the new Password
