• Excellent… I finally got it to work. My issue was that I had to not only turn off Firewall on both the DC and the other VM Guests joining the server, but I also had to make sure that on the Domain Controller, that I did not hard code in the top portion for the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Router.

  I would like someone to correct me if I am wrong, but from my experience … if on your Domain Controller (DC Machine) you go to network adapter settings and you try to hard code these parameters (for IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway)…. then your other systems cannot join to this Virtual Machine (the Server which is acting as Domain Controller – DC).

  In a REAL Corporate environment, I am not sure what would happen if these parameters are hard coded. I guess one would never know unless they worked inside a company and tried it. But these things are usually already setup by the Sys-Admin (or network engineer) of that company. So joining the other employee computers to the Domain Controller should be a peace of cake and we would not have to worry about these details. But here using Virtual Box, I observed this limitation when setting up this virtual lab in my own home. In my home, I am simply using a Router which is acting as my Gateway and provides IP addresses via its built in DHCP. In a corporate environment, who knows what they would be having setup…but that is besides the point.

• Thank you very much I spent so long trying to set this up but many people I watched stopped after making the server and never showed how to connect another pc/vm to the server now that I have it connected to another vm I can finally start playing around with it and getting some experience with active directory and hopefully put that on my resume and get a job in a help desk place.

  Do you obtain the IP from the Server, and then enter that same IP address into the client (Windows10)computer's IPV4 settings under DNS ?
  I ask because I get an error message window on the client computer. It happens when I add the client to the Server's Domain.
  The error message says that the domain cannot be reached and to check the name of the domain. I have bridged the two network adapter cards on both the server and the client.
