Thanks guys, I've appreciated you going through the process in real time but after previously trying to match all the DNS values from Plesk into the VPS DNS I gave up on that idea and I now always change the nameservers and IPs in the VPS control panel (the Glue Records) instead, and propagation takes mere minutes under normal circumstances. It's much quicker and all the DNS entries are present and correct automatically.
