Good tut. Now, how do you connect to this LTSP server from WinXP/7?
is a ltsp server the same as a TS server? how can i add users to the server?
@facejointdotcom How u can say "ubuntu is commercial shit"?!?!?! Wtf? Do u know that everything that Ubuntu has preinstalled is Open-Source? They don't even use Free Software with closed code. Shame! By the way, Ubuntu is considered the best because of his easy-to-install everything and big community. Now even better with the Ubuntu Software Center.
Lol, 6 months ago I was searching for something like that, and I found almost nothing, bad that I didn't saw this tutorial. 5 Months ago I configured the server and now I still try to make 32 MB Ram computers to boot from it, and I can't.
Wifislax looks interesting I will have to check it out because I am wanting to get into security and forensics. Slackware is definitely hardcore and I need to learn it. Thanks.
@facejointdotcom but for my current project of migrating an entire office building from Windows XP to Linux I would have to say my top choice are Ubuntu and Suse Linux because it looks professional has more features, repositories, available software, etc. I do think you make a good point point about Ubuntu not being a "light" OS but it is not as commercial as you think. Ubuntu is trying to stay true to open source while going against Red Hat and Suse Enterprise Linux competing for businesses.
@facejointdotcom I use Backtrack, OpenSuse, FreeBSD, Ubuntu (UbuntuStudio, Debian, variants) and I would have to say that just because the distro is smaller and faster does not make it the best. To be the best distro is one that will take the most people away from Microsoft or bring them to open source software. I think this is waht people think of when saying "best". I would say puppy linux is best for old machines, backtrack (although now Debian based) is best for security, …

10.0.2.0 is that the IP of your server computer on a say regular home network??
yes. of course. there are no licenses. it's free and open source software.
enjoy.
can i make a linux TS without needing licenses for each user??
U don't need alternative, u can just write that commands. I use
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install dhcp3-server first, but if it works so, that means it's Ok.
Hi, videos like yours are very few and special, thanks for making a great one on LTSP.
I have no problems installing LTSP and was successful authenticating a thin client.
But I wanted to boot a FAT client. In the login screen it says, "Your home directory is listed as :"/home/$userdir/" but it doesn't appear to exist. Do you want to log in with the / (root) directory as yourhome directory? It is unlikely anything will work unless you use a failsafe session."
Can you comment on this? Thanks!
