Hyper V Live Migration Demo on Windows Server 2019

Today we explore a quick demo of Hyper-V’s live Migration ability. We move a running Windows 10 virtual Machine from one Windows Server 2019 machine to the another.

Note: This video was originally recorded for a CS 240B Final Project nearly 2 years ago. The audio isn’t up to my standards today but with some editing I think it works.

  • We need to move the storage as well… Do you repeat this process while systems are down?

  • Is it possible to move live migration from windows server 2016 to windows server 2019

  • I wish you didn't include this annoying music in the background

  • COULDN'T be bothered to turn off the ANNOYING MUSIC that makes its harder than hell to hear what you're doing, could you??? That would be too courteous and make too much sense,

  • it should just move the compute resrouces, space on the VM HOST should be irrelevant.
