• I think there’s a lot of misunderstanding and ego tripping around Cisco exams, because the name is so esteemed. I had a colleague who wanted to become a sysadmin so he was planning for the CCNA, but couldn’t do basic tasks like install a printer.
  Let me reiterate for all newcomers. Sysadmins don’t deal with network infrastructure! Unless you’re in a very small jack of all trades MSP, network gear is usually handled by a different company. You need to know some basic networking, but that’s it.
  Don’t think that taking ONE subject makes you some kind of IT god who knows everything. All CCNA teaches is pure networking. That’s it.
  I’ve seen lot of snobs who don’t know group policy boast about their CCNA. Congratulations, you know how rapid spanning tree works.
  You don’t see orthodontists running their mouth tryin to be kidney specialists, do you?

• Hey chuck, I’m going to enter in a IT career and cyber security, networking are my favorites now. Should I go for CCNA? Or should I go directly to any cyber security courses? And IDK, I was thinking to do any cyber security course networking knowledge is a must. That’s why I was preparing for CCNA? Is my decision bad?

• 4:08 I would disagree slightly and I would use David Bombals Udemy Lab Course as an example. This course was amazing because David only explains concepts after inviting you to have a go at the lab first without any explanation. You then watch the following videos if you struggle with the Lab. This can save you a lot of time in Lab building because you can jump straight into an OSPF or EIGRP lab and have the bare bones already set up.

• I earned my CCNA on Dec 30, 2019, but still haven't landed an entry level position. Maybe too old at 50?

• Passed my ICND2 Jan 22 2020. I'm 63 years old. Started on CCNA about a year ago and messed around till Sept 2019 passed CCENT. Kept sort of working on the ICND2 until Dec 2019 then I focused. Jan 22 I went into 22 days of 6+ hours a day. My test I didn't have any configuring. Had to troubleshoot OSPF and EIGRP Sim. I used Bosen for my Sims they were spot on for practice. The questions were pretty different from Bosen. The biggest thing with the test is you have to move through it fast. I had 30 minutes left and 26 questions to go. You have to push through and answer the questions. The sims, I focused on what the question was asking and eliminated answers with sh ip int br, sh run, sh ip ospf int etc. Good luck.

• I took my ICND2 this morning…and passed. I gotta say that I watched this video about two weeks ago and it gave me LOT of motivation at the time and pushed me for like a week. I watched it again a week later and it gave me another push.
  My favorite study resources:
  For the ICND1 I used Todd Lammle's Complete Study guide. I read every page and make sure I knew why the answers were what they were in his end of section quizzes. I went all the way through Chris Bryant's materials as a review afterwards.

  For the ICND2 as far as videos went I bought Neil Anderson's full course and went through all the ICND2 topics
  I retook all end of section quizzes in Todd's book.
  I bought Chris Bryant's ICND2 exam pack with 4 practice tests. That was a shocker when I got about a 55% on the first go round.
  I then bought the Boson ExSim-max Exams for ICND2…whoas those were freaking hard. I also got about a 55% on those. I went back and figured out why I got questions wrong or why I got questions right on iffy questions. I think that was absolutely my biggest tools.
  The last nights I went back to Neil Anderson's courses and reviewed QoS, SNMP, SPAN, PPP, Multipoint PPP, HSRP, Wide area networks, and SDNs. I event touched on EIGRP a bit.

  Before bed last night, In honor of you, Network Chuck I started the hobbit. I only last four minutes before I couldn't keep my eyes open and passed out..

• Companies want EXPERIENCE. But how can we get one if we can't get a job in the first place – THAT WAS SPOT ON. Uhg, can't tell you how many times I have experienced being turned down for that same reason. Maybe it's just about a matter of finding the right company. Maybe start with relatively small company? Don't be too ambitious trying to get a high-paying position right away? I don't know…

• Ahhhhhhhh re-watching this video on my 1st full day as a CCNA certified pro. Those of you still taking it I'd say. Focus on your routing protocols. Be ready to use show commands to diagnose EIGRP issues. I lost a lot of time trying to do guesswork and scanning thru good ol show run lol. I was surprised to see so many topics not covered or barely covered.

• My favorite resources are your videos (Network Chuck) which provide the insight an even energy needed for someone my age to see this can happen for me. I like David Bombal's labs as well.

But the first 6 month ill get academy from the company and steam me ready for real work. Many company's here (belgium) offer some programs to work yourself in.
