i switched to Windows 11…
Windows 11 is like a disease that won’t ever let go of you, no matter how much you may want nothing to do with it. hopefully since last time i looked at Windows 11 in 2021, it’s more stable than my latest Windows 10 install that lasted just 2 weeks…

how to repair windows 7
Try Enterprise LTSC version, this are more Stable, like Debian Stable.
Two things you have to get out of your life. Microsoft and Adobe. Apart from VS Code, which is open source.
How about a vm with gpu passthrough? I'm able to get all my school work and gaming (to not have to deal with stuff not working with proton) done on one
I boot Windows 11 from an external SSD for the sole purpose of playing the occasional gacha game and man, that OS sucks severely. You have my deepest sympathies for being forced to install it.
On linux you have problems and thats a fact. You will run into problems no matter what but the thing is that you can solve those. On windows… if you run into a problem… thats it. A year ago my product keys for windows broke. All of them for some reason. No matter what I did and what the customer support did on my PC they didnt work anymore. And their solution was to tell me to buy new product keys. To be fair, that is problem on their end and not the windows itself but it shows that even microsoft support has no idea what they are doing. And thats not even mentioning that they were totally breaking the finnish customer protection laws and they didnt care.
At one point I tried the product keys again and now they are working again for some reason I do not know but Im already running on linux. Also my gtx 1660 seems to be paperweight now on windows if you install any recent drivers (I tried multiple setups with different motherboards, RAM and power supply). Works fine on Ubuntu LTS.
Im no expert on computers but I have used them a long time and if I install up-to-date version of windows I shouldnt need to be an expert to solve problems that they create. Ofc Nvidia seems to be doing their fair share of foolery too but it shouldnt be my problem in any case if I buy a product.
Why are you making so many changes to an already unstable system? Build it for performance and reliability… save what little sanity you have.
I run Proxmox, and have a separate windows vm and fedora vm, both with gpu passthru, utilizing sunshine & moonlight. Trust me when I say… I get it, even the dead problem child laptop part…
dont use the windows store
Older Windows builds, such as 10 1809 are more stable, also the traditional installer method is best for windows programs, the Microsoft store still feels hacked together after a decade or so
Imagine using Windows. . . It's more of a pain to use Windows these days than to use Linux. Just the install is a headache. Why should I have to disconnect the internet and tell windows I don't have internet just to get to the desktop? It's infuriating. Nothing but Linux and BSD from here on out for me.
I feel your pain, bro.
Cool vid man. Keep it up! 😀
I would love to have a go on that dead laptop 🙂
Ughhh, I'm still using Windows for the exact same reasons as you 😅
The first thing I did when installing Windows 11 was to debloat as much as possible in powershell. That only did saved me more than 5gb storage and it lowered my CPU/RAM load.
Then I tweaked a bit of the Windows security and installed Portmaster so I could easily monitor/block in & outcoming traffic (so no one can sneak in or out of my computer without notifying me; not even you Microsoft).
btw if you wanna change the taskbar size, or even go as far as i have and make the UI look like windows XP (or other custom themes) theres two programs you can use, Start11 and WindowsBlinds, they offer tons of customisability even with the start menu and make the OS actually bareable to use, srry if i sound like a walking advertisement but yeah just a suggestion if you want win11 to be bearable
