I used Ubuntu exclusively for 2 weeks!
Ubuntu is the most well know Linux distribution available to download. As a experiment I forced myself to use Ubuntu 21.04 for two weeks. Overall it was a great learning experiment and I’m happy it is over.

ubuntu
Correction: Ubuntu just added dash to dock, appindicator and desktop icons to stock gnome 40. I get the same exact desktop with these extensions enabled on Manjaro. Gray background and so on.
I’ve used Ubuntu exclusively for several years. I was first attracted by the fact that it the only Linux distribution that doesn’t look like Windows or macOS. If you just want a workstation for basic tasks, such as writing, it’s more than enough. In fact, it comes with the best free, open source software office suite, Libreoffice. There are FOSS alternatives for nearly all the popular Microsoft and Adobe products. I dual booted Ubuntu and Windows for a long time, just in case. I finally realized recently it was a waste of space, since I never had to fall back on it, and wiped Windows from my system. I can attest to customization. I’m visually impaired, and 22.04 is less visually accessible than the 18.04 from which I upgraded, so I made 22.04 look exactly like 18.04. As to the dreaded snaps, I simply unsnapped most of them and reinstalled them using apt in the terminal.
I prefer to make ubuntu looks like mac os
Watched his video before yours, sorry
I like Ubuntu
Ubuntu, the definition of ‘I mean it works all right’
My favorite Ubuntu flavor is Ubuntu Mate, because it is so light weight and comes with a number of desktop themes that easy to customize.
I actually like how Ubuntu looks and I love the bar on the left.
in bangladesh, ict text books refers to ubuntu and linux as two different os
But wait… TechHut, you are KDE kinda guy. Ive met you in this pose for the first time.
… and what about Arch based distros on your main production machine?
Why don't use a openSUSE? Feeling aversion? Try Gecko Linux.
2 weeks is not enough time to face real problems in any linux system, like updates, move files between file systems, required to run special apps or proprietary apps, i know that you know this, so please keep using it and face those issues and let us know if they are a pain or Ubuntu handles them better than before.
Is Ubuntu or windows better for gaming today?
i have ubuntu in all of my computers including my Alienware laptop, i have ben using it fo 2 years, i love it
I've used Ubuntu exclusively for 10 years
Kubuntu for KDE5. Only distro that worked flawlessly on my old Dell 1545 from 2010.
Go EWU Eagles!
It's nice to see another EWU alum. Class of 2014 🙂
Soon as I get used with rolling release distros, it's hard to go back… But I'm glad such legendary distro still active.
Just realized your wearing an EWU shirt. I use to live in Cheney. Hahaha
I'm not techy at all and I haven't used Ubuntu since.. 16 something I believe but I'm really considering going back from windows 10. I actually like how it look(ed) out the box.
Given that I work with Mac and Linux, Ubuntu is closer to how I want my desktop than the other distros you mentioned, mostly people who don’t like GNOME are looking for a more windows experience IMO. I run Pop OS, being based on Ubuntu I really like it, not the prettiest colors, but reliable and simple, plus the community support of Ubuntu.

It's indeed so bad looking and so badly organized even for Gnome that you look at it and just wanna DO something about it.
Ubuntu's default desktop is essentially designed to be slow-moving: it hardly changes over the years in order to look and feel familiar. That doesn't change a thing about the fact that I rather dislike it.
The worst thing about it is inseparable from Canonical: the over-reliance on snaps, and the way they're sometimes smuggled in below the radar.
Snap is great as an additional option, like when your Debian or Ubuntu -running education authority (I'm a teacher) pushes a juicy application such as eXeLearning but neglects to invest in a package for Arch, and you can't find it in the AUR or other sources. But snap by default when there are perfectly useable .deb packages makes you wonder if you just might have had enough. That's why I switched to Manjaro, plus a bit of wanderlust.
Welcome to Linux! I've been using Ubuntu (mostly Kubuntu) exclusively for the past 16 years.
I love free and open source software, and I love Linux. But one thing I've noticed in the past couple years of using Linux as my daily driver is, the community will always have something to complain about. They don't seem to understand that companies such as this need to make an income somehow, and personally I don't believe optional participation in sending basic hardware info etc is anything to get riled up about.
I don't use Ubuntu anymore, but it's still a fantastic operating system. I absolutely recommend it to new Linux users, and most people who talk shit about it are being really picky about things that new users likely won't notice or care about
Sounds like you are moving from Endeavour to Ubuntu as daily primary driver 😀
I parted ways with Ubuntu when they started to push snap packages aggressively. I would have stuck with it if they only had let snap eco system mature, while still allowing other options. Fedora didn't agressively push flatpacks, and still it rose in popularity. Canonical is becoming the Microsoft of Linux world.
You think that's a thing? That's the only desktop OS I use
For sheer generic distro, always ubuntu desktop gnome. My problem with other distros is they fiddle too much and break stuff. when i need to work, Ubuntu just works!
i try to loyal to only one my kde neon. coz if i follow my desire it is almost every week i changes os. i was try ubuntu. mint. pop. every time i have done installed i was found new os on youtube. so for now on im stop and stick to my kde neon….. untill im fail to control my desire touch new os hahahaha. its never eding changing
