IMPORTANT: AWS New IPV4 policy, IPV4 are chargeable now !! must watch for aws users

🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE for AWS Users! 🚨 Starting February 1, 2024, AWS will implement a new charge of $0.005 per hour for all public IPv4 addresses. This affects services like Amazon EC2, RDS, EKS, and more.

In this video, we break down the recent AWS News Blog post by Jeff Barr, where he explains the reasoning behind the change, highlighting the increasing scarcity of IPv4 addresses and the rising acquisition costs. The charge applies to both attached and unattached IPv4 addresses.

🔍 Key Changes:

In-use Public IPv4 address: No charge to $0.005/hour
Additional Elastic IP Address: $0.005/hour (no change)
Idle Elastic IP Address: $0.005/hour (no change)

💡 Free Tier Update: The AWS Free Tier for EC2 will now include 750 hours of public IPv4 address usage per month for the first 12 months, starting February 1, 2024.

🌐 IPv6 Adoption: Jeff encourages users to accelerate the adoption of IPv6, providing helpful resources and references to dual-stack architectures and services that support IPv6.

📊 Public IP Insights: AWS introduces a new feature, Public IP Insights, a part of Amazon VPC IP Address Manager, allowing users to monitor, analyze, and audit their use of public IPv4 addresses for free.

🔧 Efficient IPv4 Usage: Learn how to use the new IP Insights tool to efficiently manage your IPv4 addresses and minimize the impact of the new charges. Consider using AWS Direct Connect for a dedicated network connection to AWS.
