Inside F1's first-ever recycled carbon fibre trial #USGP
Go behind the scenes at McLaren Racing and discover how we’re manufacturing Formula 1 car components out of recycled carbon fibre (rCF) with innovative composites organisation, V Carbon. The cutting-edge material will be trialled on the McLaren MCL60 at the US Grand Prix. This is the latest major step in our ambitious long-term goal to research and develop a fully circular F1 car.

Does that mean the more front wings you break, the more front wings you get back?
🙏
As an environmental and energy engineer. I love this!! This kind of innovation is amazing!!
This video needs Kazushige Sakamoto… CABO FIBA, CABO FIBA, CABO FIBAAAAHHH
I like how Lando and Oscar dont sound like they have a gun to their heads.
Lando looking like he's using all his brain cells to deliver that script
What a waste of money to recycle one of the most common elements in the universe. This isn't about recycling, it's virtue signalling.
Honestly good on them, all teams should be taking these steps to make a change
so did mclaren used a bit of recycled carbon fiber to save money and bring in more upgrades ? thats genius if it is so
recycled carbon is the future. It's crazy how much of this stuff gets thrown into land fill, especially from old carbon bicycles.
Nice No.14 McLaren F1 car 😏
Take a shot every time they say carbon
So cool
I wish I learned composites to be a part of this
What if.. we used discarded CF to make a submarine?
Are you using pre preg or dry fibres before infusion?
We are brilliant, always the leaders.
Really cool to get a look behind the scenes of a green shift innovation method getting implemented. Hope all the teams will follow suit
I would assume should help the cost cap as well?
I love carbon fiber. I'm just a regular guy making cf parts for my car at home, mainly using wet layups and vacuum bagging. I'd love to work for a team like MCL, and using processes that are more cost prohibitive for the home like infusion and prepreg etc cf and other composites are cool.
Well done on being innovators and putting your hand up to do better
