  • following this instructions, the Paraview window open but closed automatically!! why?

  • Can I follow the same procedure to install ParaView on Fedora 38?

  • I get the errors "tar: -: Not found in archive" and "tar: C: Not found in archive" and "tar: /opt: Not found in archive" "tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors"

Is it necessary to watch a previous video where you installed OpenFOAM in a specified directory?

  • This is so great! Thank you for this video. Reproducing some comments below: there is a typo in 12:28, correct Ayatana for Ayanata.

  • I have error : …-> (gedit:57850): dconf-WARNING **: 21:41:46.577: failed to commit changes to dconf: Failed to execute child process “dbus-launch” (No such file or directory), what should I do..thanks

  • Thank you for this tutorial ! It was concise and extremely clear !

  • Hi may I ask why there's no shortcut icon on the left task bar? I'm trying to install version 5.11 on ubuntu 20.04.

  • Thanks a lot, that was really helpful. I installed Paraview-5.11 on Ubuntu 20.04 and it worked great, except I had an issue with launching paraview from the terminal. I could only use the icon. Then I found out that openfoam-10 has its own bashrc file in the /opt/openfoam10/etc/ directory. I looked at it and found a solution : just add a line in my .bashrc file giving the path to the new paraview libraries. In my case it was :
    alias paraview511='LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/opt/ParaView-5.11/lib/mesa/ paraview511'
    Then source the .bashrc.
Just in case somebody needs the tip.

  • hi, when I type the tar -xcvf ~… , it showed "you may not specify more than one '-Acdtrux', '–delete', or '–test-label' option ", what is this mean? thanks

  • Thanks. I tried this for installing paraview5-11 , the icon was built but it did not open. I see this error: qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

    Available platform plugins are: xcb.

    error: exception occurred: Subprocess aborted
Do you know how can I fix it?

  • This was extremely helpful! I am new to Ubuntu and terminal commands so this was really nice and slowly explained.

  • I have just followed your steps and installed paraview 5.10.1. It was very helpful. Thank you.

  • Thanks for this! Worked with ParaView 5.10.1 on Centos 7 even without sudo permission (I did use slightly different locations for my install).
