IPv6 Part II: Assigning IPv6 Address | shortening IPv6 address | New CCNA

Understand the IPv6 addressing and how the IPv6 address is assigned.
I have an example of IPV6 here. Taking this, I am going to show you the different approaches by which an IPv6 can be addressed or assigned.
There are two portions in IPv6 as well just like in IP version 4. The first 64-bit we call them as a Global prefix value and the last 64-bit or the remaining 64-bit we call them as Interface ID. The Global prefix value is more similar to your Network portion and the Interface ID is more similar to your host portion. By default it’s first 64-bit and last 64-bit but it’s not mandatory that you should use 64-bit, just like we have a default subnet mask in IPv4, the default prefix value or the default subnet mask in IPv6 will always be 64-bits or /64. But it’s upto you, you can change as per your need.
The next thing is that we can shorten an IPv6 a little bit according to the structure of the address. For that we can reduce the number of zeros into one zero like this.
