Is Proton Mail Really Private, Secure, and Anonymous?
In this video I tackle the topic of whether or not Proton mail is Really Private, Secure, and Anonymous

Jesus Christ! All things secured says it is protected secure email using protonmail but this video casting doubts now. Very interesting
So mail sent with encrypted smtp isnt actually encrypted or just base 64, why, please explain
I pay for ProtonMail with crypto. Not sure why it's not an option for you. Granted, they dont offer Monero (last I checked) Also didn't need a backup email or phone number.
So is it secure, private and anonymous?? Cause you lost me with all that talking…
Email is not meant to be secure but I can’t trust them.
In today’s day and age you have to use big tech as the whole internet is running off it. I personally use Tutanota and have a big tech email as a backup if they ever went away.
Yeah email isn't secure, but isn't protonmail better than gmail, yahoo, outlook, etc?
Like, even if it's a "honeypot" or whatever, the feds already have access to all your emails anyway.
My reasoning for protonmail is the feds already have my info anyway (I’m also active military), but google and yahoo would just do the same thing, keep it, then sell it to someone else, while the feds already have access to it.
Ehm, SMTP communication can be (and mostly is) encrypted, it's called SMTPS. This is not the only nonsense I found in your videos.
No, it's not. It gave some French dude's IP information to the Swiss government when ordered to track him. This was in 2021.
foreshadowing
"We don't keep your IP address". The guy they gave my account to knew my IP geolocation! My current location, and past locations in other countries I have lived in.
"We cannot read your emails" is completely FALSE! They gave all my emails to someone I had an argument with on YouTube! I offended him by saying his country was dangerous. I could tell by what he said to me that he read my emails! Lots of us are out there with the same message, but many of our complaints are getting deleted.
I HAD A "SAFE" AND "PRIVATE" ACCOUNT WITH PROTONMAIL AND GOT IN AN ARGUMENT WITH SOMEONE ON YOUTUBE. I SAID THEIR COUNTRY IS DANGEROUS TO LIVE IN. SO PROTONMAIL BANNED MY ACCOUNT, RUINED ALL MY LIFE AND DATA. NO OPTION FOR ME TO DOWNLOAD MY EMAIL ADDRESSES OR EMAILS. BUT GAVE ALL MY EMAILS TO THE OTHER PERSON ON YOUTUBE! GMAIL MAY BE OWNED BY THE CIA, BUT THEY NEVER BOTHERED ME! PROTON IS EVIL! LOOK IT UP! I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE! .
Ok 2-5 trackers per page through a sign up process and 5 trackers on the actual inbox there definitely might be something going on
It's the next EncroChat…
Port 25 is commonly encrypted. Where did you get your info from?
The best website if you just need disposable burners for websites that want an email address
I think the problem is not proton by itself. As you said, any email provider can assure 100% privacy as the model of email simply doesn't let it. So, proton, as well as tutanota are good options for me since they are more trustworthy than any other email for not sharing personal information with others.
The claim in this video that interdomain email not only isnt, but cant, be encrypted, makes any other claims suspect. MTAs between major email services have been encrypted for over a decade. Fastmail for example has been doing so since 2009.
Nowadays you are not redirected to to clearnet sites when using the onion domain and they added payment with Bitcoin and Fiat Cash. Recovery Email is still required. Another I dont like to this day is that their Android App has problems sending notifications if you have a degoogled phone like GrapheneOS
Proton mail just deleted my account but they still sending emails to my recovery account.😂
It's not a US honeypot. It's probably a Swiss honeypot, maybe a WEF honeypot or Swiss intel.
the link of privacy watchdog leads to a pretty fishy website fyi
5:50 Sorry but you really don't know what you're talking about.
Port 25 does NOT mean un-encrypted.
Port 25 is mostly the INCOMING mail port and it most certainly can be encrypted using TLS, as long as both servers have the optional/enforced flag set, thereby negotiating an encrypted session, which most email servers do have set. This means if the sender server transmits the optional flag and the receiving server has the enforce flag set, encryption in transit will be used, and vice versa. It is rare for a mail server not to support encryption and that's usually some ancient personal server that hasn't been upgraded in years.
What you're probably confusing it with is the port 25 SUBMISSION (for sending emails) which is a plaintext and blocked by any major ISP and email providers for obvious reasons, as well as anyone running a personal email server that has half a brain. In Australia, TPG used to offer port 25 submission for quite a long time, simply because it was cheaper for them and I would never even think of using this. No major email provider would ever offer this option. Mail.ru might but no one seriously thinks that's a private service anyway.
For encrypted submission, ports 465 or 587 are the standard nowadays.
For IMAP and POP encrypted access, we use ports 993 and 995 respectively, although is is possible to use port 143 for encrypted IMAP access.
I need cockli invite please
When you said "The Hated One", it thought it was Elon Musk🤣
To be anyone wondering for update. ProtonMail is not really private anymore. They will give government information if they have switzerland court order.
Is owned by someone, is not 100% secure but is more than google or any other mainstream email service.
Good looking out
8:50 isn't it unencrypted once it leaves exit node?
