Its Finally Happening! 4 Rotor Swap STREET FD RX-7

This Project has been in the works for a long time, and I am excited to get the ball rolling and get this car together. Huge thanks to Logan at Defined Autoworks for Building the engine for us, and sharing some of his experience running a 4 rotor engine in an FD RX7 chassis.

  • man i like this two rotor setup. i need a intake like that on my FD

  • Interesting swap when you think about the torque figures of the 13B turbo and 26B N/A. Should be very drivable with the side port – have you had them enlarged to big street port?

  • God I want to tear down my Fds engine bay and do a deep clean and refresh,
its full of crust since previous owner had it sitting outside for years.
But at the same time I just got it smogged, running and driving so I need to enjoy it

Question: My 94 has the single oil cooler, you got any advice for adding a second one(low budget)
Is buying someones factory dual easiest way to go about it?

  • To me this makes no sense. The weight of the 4 rotor is going to negate any power you would have gained. Plus it’s a “street” built 4 rotor, I think you’re only making high 300s. You could have easily made 400 hp on the 13b. Plus you just ruined the handling characteristics of the car. Cool I guess.

  • I've thought about a 3 rotor na in my fc but finances are tight right now so I just did a large street port na for now. Waiting for spring to get it back on the road and pissing off my neighbors

  • I love seeing this young blood keep the rotary alive. I wish nothing but success for you!

  • Still can’t believe he’s doing this to a mint 94. Chaste white no less.. 🤷🏻‍♂️😲
Surprised he still ran the twins I guess that’s the main reason why he’s doing this? Or maybe he wants to show it off at the next DGRR and be the only 4 rotor FD? 😉
    👍🏻

  • Looking forward to the build. There is nothing more reliable than a rotary NA on almost stock ports. The challenge will be pushing the motor back far enough not to throw the balance off and still clear the steering rack.

  • Looking forward to hearing this running, should sound amazing all the way to redline. It will be interesting to see the full layout in the engine bay, how clean it will look. Happy Holidays, hoping to see more regular posts now your in your new place.😊

  • great videos, how do we contact you regarding working on my rx7?

  • So psyched for this project!!! Even though I’m an RX8 guy! Thanks for the great content Erich!!

  • While this is dope, especially it being a "budget lol" street 4 Rotor…. what would've been even cooler, would be to drop that 4 Rotor into an FB…. because I've seen 12A's, 13B's, 13B-REW's, along with 20B's in SA's and FB's….but never a 26B….. you could've been the first

  • This is going to be a great build. Who doesn’t love the sound of a 4 rotor. The new shop is great.✌️🙌

  • Ooooosh looking forward to watching this one come along man all the best!

  • Please let me know if your client is interested in selling his carbon fiber intake and SMIC since he no longer needs them. Thanks!

  • I'm the old guy who's asking if the MPG will dip down to single digits?
