KALI LINUX – METASPLOIT – Hacking Metasploitable using SMB and VSFTPD protocols.

In this video, we are giving a high level overview of METASPLOIT. It is a utility built within Kali Linux that provides info about security vulnerabilities and assists in penetration testing.

It is such a useful tool for exploiting vulnerabilities found in an NMAP scan.
I have exploited SMB and FTP in this tutorial, using Metasploitable:

00:00 – Metasploit on Kali Linux. What is it?
00:09 – What is Metasploit?
00:20 – NMAP. Conduct a scan of a target or subnet to find some vulnerabilities.
00:48 – NMAP. Store your scan results in a notepad for later retrieval.
01:11 – Metasploit. Exploit the vulnerabilities from your NMAP scan.
01:36 – Search Metasploit. Use the search facility to locate the exploits that can help you gain remote access.
02:04 – Metasploit. Use [module number]. This helps you move to the context of the module exploit you are planning to use.
02:22 – Metasploit Options. Here you configure the host IP address, ports and any other details if required.
02:50 – Exploit SMB. This is the moment where we gain entry to the remote machine. There are so many methods of exploitation, in this video I am exploiting SMB and FTP.
03:41 – Exploit FTP. In this one, I have exploited VSTFPD that is vulnerable on Metasploit.

NOTE: This is a tutorial on how this process of hacking works, but is never to be used on the Public Internet…. only if you have explicit permission from a customer to enumerate and pen their network.
