  • We are a small company with 750+ employees and switched to Azure many years ago, but still operated our own small server room. And the strategy is clear: we are moving away(!) from Azure again. The reason is very simple: Microsoft published a long time ago that they want to squeeze more money out of customers and M$ has managed to do just that: M$ has removed standard functions such as security components from the products and now you have to pay separately if you want the services on Azure to be secure! How perverse is that: When Microsoft introduced Azure, M$ advertised that the cloud was more secure than its own data center. They advertised “Security at every step”. Today they say: you only get security if you pay extra for it.

We should migrate servers to Azure? Never. Why? Microsoft's greed is more important than good, professional and secure products. This can already be seen in Office 365: we have been paying around 30 times more than for Office 2003 for years, but we are constantly working with beta versions, testing for Microsoft and thousands of error messages are simply ignored by M$, because we know it: we still have reported errors(!) even after years.
