Excellent video! Exactly why I don’t ask technical questions…I have trouble with files and folders. I will bookmark this one so I can refer to it.
Should i not have iTunes Store on my phone, then? 🤷♀️ I don’t subscribe to Apple Music. I buy albums & download them. The search function in the Music app doesn’t give me the same info or access to my account.
iOS and iPadOS are the two I screwed up. I’d thought it was more or less the same OS for both handheld, portable devices. (i Phone i Pad i Wasn’t too hard on myself lol) I discovered this talking to a tech support guy about something annoying that happened in the iPad Notes app that didn’t happen in the iPhone Notes app. When he researched it his screen showed a message he’d never seen with instructions he couldn’t interpret. The following day he called me back to tell me I was the first person to have discovered a bona fide bug in the iPad version of the app. The onscreen message was telling him how to report it. He said everyone thinks they’ve found a bug but it’s almost always plain ol’ user error. He was so excited. “There’s thousands of us doing this. I can’t believe I’m the one talking to you.” I could have ruffled his hair, bless him 😂 It was a fun chat and I’ll never use the wrong term again 😅
I'm glad you got a chance to air one of your grievances with non-Mac Non-techie uusers.
It's fantastic that you came up with the idea of this video.
I wish everyone I know would watch this video.
Great job Gary as usual. I would add that you find similar issues in different languages and here in South Florida it gets even crazier when people mix two or more languages and try to get help. This was the case when I worked at Circuit City many moons ago. 😬
One thing I can no longer keep straight in my mind is remembering which macOS number aligns with what name. Apple should have a referral link to Macmost on its YouTube support channel! Thanks Gary.
Good sound advice as always. Thanks Gary.
When I was new I did not get that mark up and markdown were two different things😅
2:24 In css, the pointer is called the cursor, and the cursor is called the caret. It's no wonder that people get confused 😵💫
Oops, you didn’t blur out your serial # at 5:01. 😮
As someone who has worked around the world, providing software for the Air Navigation Service (ANS) industry, being precise with language is one of my “must haves” 😅 so this episode was a breath of fresh air to me – many thanks from a long-term follower 👍
This is the video Gary wishes every person on Youtube would watch before they comment on any of his videos
my 2015 macbook pro defo has "alt" on the option key. so it wasn't that long ago. i also have an SD card slot, HDMI, two old school USB, two Thunderbolt-2, and an audio mini out.
You can have this laptop when you pry it from my cold dead hands.
Thanks bunches
Been using a mac my whole life (several decades) and i have no idea what a "task bar" is
it sounds like somewhere you go get drinks with a task rabbit
Very interesting!
If I ask or tell some of my relatives and friends to open Music app or Messages, they won't follow. So, I gave up and say iTunes and iMessages. Whatever works. If I correct them, it's kind of like them them to say "May I…" rather than "Can I…" and they think I'm being arrogant.
U deserve a STANDING OVATION!!!
I had no idea there were so many options for confusion…thanks for setting us straight…. maybe now Mac support will stop rolling their eyes.🤣🤣
Within our Mac User Group, I am known as something of a troubleshooter and it's really exasperating when people ask questions and use confusing terms and, more often than not have no idea which OS they use.
Great video, thank you for explaining. At the start I was hoping you would talk about Messages and iMessage, which you did, so thank you for that! I also like how you explain the difference between a USB and Thunderbolt port. To compare them to languages made a lot of sense to me. Isn't iTunes still around as an app for Windows?
I much prefer Apple terminology. It's been second nature since my G3 iMac.
