Note, in Ubuntu bash shell (CLI) and some others, the apt command now includes aptitude and apt-get and is now native. Also the nano editor has clear prompts at the bottom for new users as apposed to the vi editor. Lots of good info in the video.
I was totally lost after about 4 minutes. a user interface is simply needed, linux looks like shit and you miss almost all the fun of the internet. there is no benefits to this OS

Why do none of the directories show up when I type "ls"? I only have files show up, so how do I add directories? For my current needs, I have to add "Downloads" because when I type "cd ~/Downloads/" it says "no such file or directory". Anyways, I would very much appreciate any help, thank you!
