MAC Address in Detail Part 1: Physical Address : Hardware Address in Computer Network
Hello Friends!
In this lecture, you will understand the concept of MAC address of Access point in Laptop, Desktop, Router,Mobile.
In general, Physical address are the device address by which the Internet may access into device.
Myth: MAC address/ Physical address/Hardware address is the Device address.
it is completely wrong, MAC address is the address of NIC card, WLAN interface, bluetooth card address which is given by the Manufacturer.
It is Just like a CHASIS number of any Vehicle, so it is not the Vehicle number.
Vehicle Number and Chasis Number both are different.
So, hardware address/ MAC address is the address of NIC Card not the address of LAPTOP.
MAC Address Representation:
It is represented or written in the Hexa-decimal.
Its length is 48-bits, further it can be classify into OUI & Vendor Specific address.
MAC Address Written as: 2B: 40:EF:4B:48:CA:A4
Note: 1 Hexadecimal= 4 Bits
How to see MAC Address in Laptop: Go to DOS (Command Prompt)
and type this command: ipconfig/all
So, you will find the Hardware/ MAC address, Wifi address…..etc
